April 30th, 2009 · 3 Comments

The Salmon Creek (Vancouver) location of Burgerville will begin serving local beers and wines on Friday, May 1. In a move that is the first of its kind in the Northwest, the high-end fast food chain will offer specially chosen wines and beers to compliment their gourmet seasonal offering menu.

An internationally renowned sommelier has chosen the initial wines to be the Ponzi Tavola Pinot Noir, O’Reilly Pinot Gris and the Eyrie Vineyards Chardonnay. The selected beers include Widmer Hefeweizen, Full Sail Amber and Terminal Gravity ESG.

Burgerville’s decision to serve beer and wine at the Salmon Creek location has been controversial, but they have implemented a two-drink limit and alcohol will only be served from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Where:
Burgerville - Salmon Creek
13309 NE Hwy 99

Map it!

Additionally, beginning Tuesday, Burgerville’s latest seasonal items will be introduced to the menu, including the grilled asparagus and tomato melt, grilled asparagus spears and the spring spinach and chicken salad.

Works for me…I lived in Europe for 5 years in late ’80’s and early ’90’s, and it was common THEN to order a burger and a pilsner (or wine) from McDonalds or BurgerKing…Seemed to work ok for them…And U could sit and watch the attractive “ladies” in the window across the street where “prostitution” was legal, licensed and “medically checked.” But THAT was Europe!!

It’s amazing how conservative America really is when you think about it, even in modern times, even in the Pacific Northwest. Amazing… and frustrating.

Kudos to Burgerville for not caving in to the complainers and following through with this experiment.

I’ll stay tuned to the news to find out when the sky starts falling.
